NEW PEOPLE offers the latest films, art, fashion and retail brands from Japan and is the creative vision of the J-Pop Center Project and VIZ Pictures, a distributor and producer of Japanese live action film. Located at 1746 Post Street, the 20,000 square foot structure features a striking 3-floor transparent glass façade that frames a fun and exotic new environment to engage the imagination into the 21st Century.
NEW PEOPLE will become a destination in itself and a source of stimulation for both San Francisco locals and tourists, bringing a new cultural energy to an area filled with history. With three stories above and a basement below, NEW PEOPLE will share Japanese cinema, retail and art, all under one roof. NEW PEOPLE will attract those eager to explore new cultural inspirations or who would like a crash course in Japanese popular culture.
Launched by the visionary Seiji Horibuchi, founder and CEO of VIZ Pictures and founder of VIZ Media, the driving force behind this project is to create a dedicated platform to foster the appreciation, preservation and exposure of Japanese popular culture and to connect the public with its creators. The J-pop Center Project sparks creative alliances and collaborations across different media: film, animation, music, art and product. Following the spirit of the J-pop Center Project, the plan is to expand this vision globally in the near future.
